Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace is the Founder of the Bedford Baker Group. We are a collection of independent professional advisors offering services in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality. Each project comprises a specific set of skills that we bring to bear from among the persons and companies we regard as our Associates.
Our Principal & Our Associates* Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace’s experience as co-president of Resorts International on Paradise Island, then the largest private company in The Bahamas, as Director-General of Bahamas Tourism, as CEO of the Caribbean Tourism Organization and as Minister of Tourism of The Bahamas has made him a much sought after advisor to both private companies and governments in the tourism and hospitality arena.
He has been the principal architect of policies to ensure robust private-public sector cooperation in all of his tourism initiatives. He brings a unique perspective to the growth and development of businesses and destinations that rely on hospitality for their profitability and their economies. By the end of his tenure as Director General and Minister, he covered the best performing years in Bahamas tourism whether measured by total visitors, by hotel visitors, by cruise visitors, by tourism revenues or by levels of visitor satisfaction. For a country that relies on Tourism for more than 60% of its GDP, his tenure also included, to this date, the years of lowest levels of unemployment in the history of an independent Bahamas. He is a graduate of Harvard University (BA, cum laude) and the University of Miami (MBA) from which he graduated at the top of his class. He has won a number of awards including being named at the 50th Anniversary of the Caribbean Tourism Organization as one of the 50 most influential people in Caribbean Tourism, being selected by Fast Company magazine as one of the Fast 50 global champions of innovation as well as awards for Lifetime Achievement from the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association (HSMAI) and from the Association of Travel Marketing Executives International (ATME). He was also named as one of the most extraordinary minds in Hospitality and Travel by HSMAI. He was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his contributions to the development of Tourism in Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. During the Great Recession, the World Tourism Organization’s Summit in London, invited him as one of six Ministers of Tourism from around the world selected to give advice of the best way forward. More recently, he was selected to serve as a member of the Executive Committee of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) and a Member of the Advisory Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean for the University of Miami's Business School. Mr Vanderpool-Wallace has four academically and athletically gifted children. He was elected to the Harvard Varsity Club Hall of Fame and has been listed among the prominent Harvard Alumni who also excelled in athletics. He lives and works out of Nassau, Bahamas and Miami, Florida. |
